For every academic IELTS candidates reading is the hardest paper and the one which requires most training. Here we suggest some different ways to make that training as efficient as possible. These IELTS reading tips are fairly very general and are designed to help you think about the best way to train yourself in IELTS reading and how to avoid some common mistakes.
1. Skim the reading and questions first
It is a very good idea to skim the reading first to get an understanding of what it is about and who it is written for. Look at the title of the reading at any subheadings, and pictures. Then look at the questions as the type of question will be influence the strategies you use to complete them. 2. Don’t read the whole passage
Train yourself to scan and notice only for the important information. After you go over the text for the first time, you should know about what each paragraph is about, what its main idea is. This way of “reading” will saves you a lot of priceless time.
3. Know the different types of questions
There are 8/9 different types of reading question that will examiners may use. Before the exam, you should make yourself to familiar with each type of question as they are slightly different. What we suggest is that you look at my series of tutorials on the different types of reading questions as a first step to see what the question types are. The next stage is to experiment and see what the techniques you are going to use for each type of question. This may mean that the approach different types of questions differently.
